Miss Jodi Harper and Miss Jalee’ Conley’s class had an enrichment activity in the media center. Mrs. Godwin read, β€œNo Lie, Pigs (And Their Houses) Can Fly!” and a non fiction book about pigs. Students had to identify the characters and the setting of the story and the difference between fiction and non fiction texts. After the story, students had to create their own houses (setting) around a pig (character) taped to the tables. Items to build the houses included magna-tiles, magnetic blocks, cups, dominoes, lincoln logs, fake bricks, and fake cement blocks. The idea was to make it strong enough not to get blown down. Miss Jodi used a hair dryer as the Big Bad Wolf. The class had lots of fun with this activity.
