SCES proudly recognized a group of exceptional young scholars during the National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) induction ceremony on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. The event honored students who exemplify excellence in scholarship, leadership, responsibility, and service—the core values of the organization.

To qualify for membership, students must meet rigorous academic standards and consistently demonstrate positive behavior, strong leadership qualities, and a commitment to serving others both in and out of the classroom.

The newly inducted members pledged to uphold the principles of the organization and continue striving for excellence in all areas of their lives. As members of NEHS, they will engage in a variety of service projects and leadership opportunities throughout the year.

Seminole County Schools and teachers proudly congratulate all inductees and look forward to the positive impact they will continue to make within their school and throughout their community.

Miss Jodi Harper and Miss Jalee’ Conley’s class had an enrichment activity in the media center. Mrs. Godwin read, “No Lie, Pigs (And Their Houses) Can Fly!” and a non fiction book about pigs. Students had to identify the characters and the setting of the story and the difference between fiction and non fiction texts. After the story, students had to create their own houses (setting) around a pig (character) taped to the tables. Items to build the houses included magna-tiles, magnetic blocks, cups, dominoes, lincoln logs, fake bricks, and fake cement blocks. The idea was to make it strong enough not to get blown down. Miss Jodi used a hair dryer as the Big Bad Wolf. The class had lots of fun with this activity.
