Dear Parents and Students:
As we approach the beginning of a new school year, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all of you. I am thoroughly excited about this year as we set a new standard. This introduction and greeting constitutes a pledge of effort to provide the best possible education for our young men and women.
Our school’s reputation and success rest, in large measure, on parental concern and involvement. We seek to afford each student an education commensurate with his or her abilities, relevant to this state’s curriculum, and challenging to a degree that will prompt a love of learning. This task is not an easy one. We need your cooperation and understanding if this year is to provide a profitable and satisfying experience for each student.
The school needs to help in preventing every distraction that limits the opportunity for a student to learn. Read this handbook carefully. Be sure you understand the rules and regulations that make it possible for all of us to live and learn together.
Seminole County Middle High School takes pride in its highly qualified and dedicated faculty. These educators welcome your concern, and they view education as a partnership between home and school. Over the years, the spirit and tradition that have shaped our school have played a key role in shaping the educational experience. Each class profits from the example of those who have gone before them. These are important years, and I find it reassuring in working with young people who are becoming the best they can be.
If there is anything we can do to help a student, please do not hesitate to call. The unvoiced problem cannot be resolved, for the missed opportunity rarely presents itself again. The goal of SCMHS remains to provide the best possible education for each student.
We trust that your experience with our school will enhance your faith in public education for your child.
Shane Purdy, Principal
